The Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) headed by its director, Prof. Belinda D.V. De Castro, together with Research Interest Groups (RIGs), welcomed Academic Year 2018-2019 with its annual general assembly, as well as the assessment and planning workshop held on July 24-25 at The Greenery in Baliuag, Bulacan.

Prof. Belinda D.V. De Castro formally started the general assembly by cordially welcoming all RIGs including their new members.  It was then followed by the Director’s Report of RCSSED Accomplishments, Competency-Based Development Plan, MOA Requirements, RCSSED Policies and House Rules, Process Maps and Guidelines, Calendar of Activities, and the presentation of RCSSED forms.

The insightful talks from expert research associates from various RIGs set the tone of Day 1 agenda. Asst. Prof. Maria Carinnes Gonzales of Social Health Studies RIG delivered a talk on Data Privacy which provided useful information on the ethical considerations in sharing and keeping the researcher’s and the research participants’ information, as well as the research findings/results. An equally educative talk was rendered by Prof. Maria Minerva Calimag of Social Health Studies RIG on Google Apps for Researchers.

The morning session of the assessment and planning workshop (Day 2) was devoted to learning about Participatory Methods for Engaging Communities as facilitated by Asst. Prof. Racquel Jimenez and Assoc. Prof. Rosalyn Mirasol of the Language Studies RIG.  The afternoon session was equally productive when each of the RIGs engaged in a workshop on Setting RIG Targets and Activities which was succeeded by the RIG Reports on Targets and Activities for the entire academic year. Before the RCSSED team returned to their busy lives in the academe, they had spent a relaxing moment with RCSSED colleagues and friends in their socialization and team building activities
