Understanding 21st Century Democracy with the subtheme Embracing Democracy as an Educational Commitment

The University of Santo Tomas, Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED) and the Fondazionne Gravissimum Educationis, in cooperation with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) of the Department of Education, will be holding the second segment of the webinar series on “Understanding 21st Century Democracy” with the subtheme “Embracing Democracy as an Educational Commitment”, on October 10, 2020, from 3:00 – 5:30 pm, via the UST Cloud Campus.
The session will feature Dr. Gert Biesta, Professorial Fellow in Educational Theory and Pedagogy of the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, who will deliver the keynote address entitled, “Education, democracy and citizenship: From agenda to principle”.  Plenary speaker Dr. David Zyngier of the School of Education in Southern Cross University, Australia will talk about “Educators for Democracy: Different ‘kinds’ of citizenship”.

1st CTHM Virtual Tourism and Hospitality Conference 2020

The University of Santo Tomas – College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (UST CTHM) is inviting you to join the 1st CTHM Virtual Tourism and Hospitality Conference 2020 under THM52016: Tourism Policy, Planning, and Development course, with the theme Philippine Tourism Development and COVID-19 Pandemic: Recovery through Sustainable Development. It will happen on October 23, 2020 (Friday), from 09:00 AM to 12:00 NN using the Zoom Platform. It will also be live via the Official Facebook Page of UST CTHM (UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management).

The event’s theme is directly highlighting the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic to the tourism development of domestic destinations in the Philippines. It will also highlight the recovery policies, goals, plans, programs, and projects that the local government units (LGU) could implement.

To explain clearly the said theme, the organizers are partnered with the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ATOP), the national organization for provincial, city, and municipal tourism officers. It is also co-organized by the UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSEd).
